  1. I’m less hungry throughout the day and definitely feel more energetic, but I actually think I’ve put on body fat since beginning the paleodiet, despite eating close to 800 fewer calories per day. I’m eating alot more fat now, though, than I was previously. Lots of avocado, black olives, almonds, unsalted sunflower seeds, brazil nuts, etc… since I haven’t been able to do crossfit or muay thai for the last two weeks, i’ve been running ~6miles a night at 2 minutes @ 65% MHR, 1 minute @ 95% MHR intervals to speed up my metabolism and burn away my fat reserves. I’m not seeing any results so far though in terms of weight loss, so I’m gonna adjust the size of my portions and reduce my fat intake and hope that my energy level stays where it is.

    1. That’s interesting that you are putting on body fat already, but you were very lean to begin so I guess not that surprising. Let’s see what happens at the end of 4 weeks. Make sure you are keeping track of your weight.

    2. i think my macronutrient ratio was off… i was eating too much fat. it was all “good” fat, but still too much given my reduced activity level. i somehow got it in my head that, if you cut out grains and dairy, all your energy would be drawn from fat, so you could eat almonds and avocados all day guilt-free. Carb:protein:fat is supposed to be somewhere near 30:30:40, right?

  2. I definitely have more energy and the carb/sugar urges have dropped considerably. I upped my portion sizes and now feel less ‘starving’ throughout the day. Also discovered that the Portuguese BBQ place by my job will sub salad for the usual rice and fries. 1/2 chicken – 1/2 rib combo plus heaping amount of salad for $13. It’s good for at least 2 servings.
