03/30/11 – "Angie" + Sectional WOD Tonight

Fundamentals – We are finishing our current Fundamentals group this Thursday.  Next week we will be starting a NEW Fundamentals Group.  If you are interested or know someone who is interested please have them email [email protected].  Thanks!

CrossFit Games Sectionals Open –Competitors, tonight @ the 5:15pm and 6:00pm class we will have the Sectional WOD.  For all members who are not competing, you are free to come to these classes to either perform Angie or take a shot at the Sectional WOD.  In any event, we need volunteers for judges and cheer squad.  Thank you again to all of the members for being understanding about the Sectional workouts.  This is our first time doing this, so I apologize if I am inconveniencing any of you.  I will try to simply things so next week does not seem so chaotic.

Jim has been a great addition to the 908 team.  He's motivated, shows up each day ready to work hard, and not a once complains.  In fact, he usually spends the time during the following class practicing all of the movements he did in the workout!  On top of that, he puts paper towels on the ground when he does push ups so he doesn't drown in a pool of sweat.  Go Jim!

Schedule –

  • Mobility WOD
  • WOD – For Time “Angie”
    • 100 Pull Ups (Chin must extend over the bar)
    • 100 Push Ups (Chest must touch the ground)
    • 100 Sit Ups (Hands must touch the ground above your head and toes)
    • 100 Air Squats (Hip crease must be below knee)
      • NOTE: To perform the workout as rx’d complete each exercise before going on to the next.  If you want to scale, you can partition the workout anyway you like to meet your needs.
    • Stretch

  1. I am so bummed. I was sporting my Crossfit 908 shirt all throughout San Francisco, and a bartender knocked over my wine and now, the Crossfit shirt has red splotches all over it. Sigh.

    1. I got that beat – the baby puked on my new 908 shirt. Twice. White splotches are an entirely different thing to explain than red splotches. Just saying.

      But let’s delve into your situation a little more, shall we?
      Gym t-shirt at a bar? Well played.
      It was a dive bar, you say? Why were you ordering wine, then? Methinks* there is more to this story….

      * I get bonus points for using this word, no? I await Judge Dredds ruling.

  2. I think the girl in the Sectional WOD #2 video on the games site is the same chick from Tim’s favorite Squat poster (see last Friday’s post).

  3. 1) Jim, you’re awesome! And the forehead towel idea is actually really smart (on top of being considerate)! I think I should do that because I always get dirt all over my face doing push ups!
    2) Melissa – I think you should view the spots on your shirt like scars (which I personally am always proud to get)…it just ads character! Plus, it’s awesome that you wore the shirt out to a bar! What better conversation piece could you have?
    3) Peter – I think you deserve bonus points for “Methinks”…I guess we’ll see what the Judge says. I hope we get to meet the baby soon!!!

    Been lurking the site a lot recently. Miss all of you and the fun and family that is CF908. I’ve been spending my time working out on some very specific tasks getting ready for my physical tests for the FD over the next 2mos (Tim C aware and approved). It’s shameful to say, but I am in a big franchise in NYC and get to enjoy all the sites (waiting for the stepmill while a woman walks on it and reads her blackberry – a guy sitting and reading the NY Times between sets on the bench press). Looking forward to getting back to the intensity that is the WOD.

  5. Peter, Peter, Peter,….It is San Francisco, anything other than flip flops and a tank top counts as FORMAL. Not a dive bar, some random bar on Fisherman’s Wharf….and I ended up wearing Stag’s Leap for the rest of the night. I did get a free dinner out of it. I’ll do anything for free dinner. My Georgia sweatshirt was ruined too. I know, sad days….

    Methinks is an awesome word.

  8. I was in Vegas last week and got some strange stains all over it as well, curious what it could be. Smells like spearmint and ryhmes with rhino.
