Nutrition Challenge Scoring – Today, in the comments section you must post your food, drinks, sleeping, and supplementation points to the comments section.  Pat and I will be posting our points at the top of each post.  I know my points for tomorrow already, since it is 10pm, and I have to wake up @ 4am, I clearly am getting a -5 in the sleeping category.

  3. Drinks – 2 cups Coffee = 0

  5. Total = -2 (Not A Good Start)

    Drinks – 2 cups Coffee = 0, 1 cup veggie juice (no sugar) 0? 1 glass white wine 0
    Sleep – 7.5-8 hours= +1
    Supplementation – 2.4 g EPA/DHA = +1
    Total = +5

  2. 1 primal meal +1 (How are we or are we scoring protein shakes? I had one in the AM than started an fast until dinner after the workout)

    Water all day

    7 hours sleep +1

    Total + 2

    Supplements = 0
    Drinks – 2 cups coffee = 0
    Sleep – 8 hrs = 1

    Supplements – 2 grams EPA = 1
    Drinks = 2 vodkas = 0
    Sleep – 7 hours = 1

  6. Can someone post the points scheme? I’ve never been a good note taker…

    Food- 3 primal meals + 1 gf=4
    sleep- 9 hrs (excessive, but making up for the weekend)= Is that 2?
    Total- 6? I think?

    I’m still going to try to be as healthy as possible, but work is too busy right now for me to be tracking and posting in such a detailed way every day – sorry for throwing my name in the ring and changing my mind so quickly! I’ll be a good cheerleader 🙂

  10. I have a question about protien shakes. Can I drink one as meal replacement? If so, how would that work?

  11. Here are some answers to your questions:

    1.) Today you are posting Monday’s point total which includes your meals, drinks, supplementation and Monday night’s sleep. Sunday night’s sleep is irrelevant.
    2.) Protein shakes are not encouraged. We want you eating real food. A post workout protein shake is okay. We will allow you to have one protein shake per day, but it must be with Grass-Fed Whey that is unsweetened. You can find a good brand here – http://www.strongerfasterhealthier.com. You want the natural whey. Remember all forms of processed sugars are not allowed, and that includes artificial sweeteners. Also, if you are looking to lose weight, dairy can hinder your results, so limit your dairy intake.
    3.) Supplementation – We are asking that you take 2+ grams of EPA alone, not EPA/DHA. So if your fish oil pills are 500mg EPA / 400mg DHA, you need to take 4+ pills.
    4.) Wild Food vs. Supplementation. This is an either or. If you eat wild, and supplement, you still only collect 1 point.

    Total: +3 or less depending on the sleep scoring. (the newsletter says less than 6 hours is -2 and more than 7 hours is +1.)

    Also, is green tea grouped with regular caffeinated tea?

  17. Tim–totally going to need to read the newsletter so I can properly score myself. Great job everyone on the start of this challenge :). Working the night shift is going to mess up my points 3-4 days a week, so I’ll have to be stronger in other areas–lol!!

    I have one scoring change to make that was wrong in the newsletter. It shouldn’t alter anything too much. (sorry DMac).
    Soft Drinks or any other highly sugary drink (artificial sweeteners count)
    1 Drink = -1
    2 Drinks = -3
    3+ Drinks =-5

  20. Decided to do the challenge last minute. I am going to try and stick with primal meals. Tomorrow will be better!

    Food: 1 primal meal and two non-primal meal = -3
    only water
    9 hours of sleep = +2
    Total = -1

  22. So impressed with everyone that I pushed the beds out of the way and made my friend do a WOD with me here in my hotel room in Venice. Can’t wait to start this challenge and with the amount of pizza and gelato I am eating, I will need it bad. Keep up the good work!

    I’m seeing a negative 1 every morning I wake up because I always have a cup of OJ when I wake up…I guess I’ll just have to sacrifice that negative point because like my mom says, “A morning without OJ, is like a morning without sunshine”…….lol!!!!

  25. I’m not going to bother participating in this since it’s literally impossible for me to get six hours of sleep. There’s no way that I’d ever finish with a positive amount of points.

    Is there a prize for the least amount of points?
