  1. Yes, the water is really difficult for me…especially because I can’t just go to the bathroom whenever I want at work! I also have been having trouble sleeping through the night for a while, so my seven hours last night were interrupted quite a bit. Tim- can I tack on a nap this afternoon to my sleep hours?
I made the butternut squash soup we had at the 90 Acres paleo cooking night. So good. Also found some chicken sausage with garlic and spinach with all good ingredients. I will photocopy the recipes from 90 Acres and leave some copies at the gym!

  2. Hey Mo it’s 7 hours of sleep within a 24 hour period so getting 5 hours at night then napping 2 during the day is fine!

  3. re Half your body weight in oz., so if you are 180lbs, you drink 90oz, right?

I had a really terrific salad for lunch with grilled chicken, it was beyond perfect. However, dinner time rolled around and my wife said “sorry, i don’t have anything for you, maybe you can go shopping after you put the kids to bed [@9pm!]. They were having green shamrock ravioli. But, i found some old broccoli and another piece of seriously dried out grilled chicken and toughed it out.

Breakfast seems to be my stumper, I’m used to Alpin museli, oatmeal or yogurt w/some granola. These eggs, it’s day one and i don’t want to eat another egg. I’m trying to do veggie fritatta’s with 85% veggies but it ends like nothing i’ve ever seen before, or eaten before.

  4. Tommy- I hear you with the eggs. I try to eat them in different ways to change it up. Usually, I’ll have a couple of hard boiled eggs chopped up with salt, pepper, a little balsamic vinegar, and avocado. It’s not bad.
Drinking this water feels like I’m having that drink that prepares you for a colonoscopy. I’ve had more water in this past day and a half than I’ve probably had in a month. Although it is so hard for me, I am so glad it’s a factor in this challenge and that I’m being forced to drink it. I hope I get used to it!!

    1. That’s a great idea with the eggs, nice option. After my am work out I stopped by the grocery store and stocked up with Acorn & spaghetti squash, Yams & cauliflower. I slice most all in half (except for cauliflower which i steam) , throw them face down on a baking sheet with some olive oil and I uses combinations as the base for the rest of my meals. spaghetti squash is enormously versatile and all this stuff is very tasty. Hmm, I don’t see that one on the list though – judges?? Cauliflower is another one you can blend and add some other items to give it a mashed potato like texture and it’s really good too.

  5. I am a peeing fool. But, that is generally me anyway, I try to drink 96oz of water a day any way. Tommy, I have a recipe for eggs with spaghetti squash that is really good. I’ll see if I can find it and post it. Tim posted it once…

Can I say that I’m so happy we are not running up that freakin’ hill today?

  6. I just want to say that last night we had over 6 newbies in the Free Intro class. Some of them signed up for the nutrition challenge and I hope the others will too. If you were one of the newbies that signed up, I promise you that you will feel better. You all looked great last night. Keep up the good work and reach out to any of us if you need anything. You rock!

    1. PS-my sister was one of the newbies… She did such a great job last night. I am so happy she gave CrossFit a try 🙂

      1. Awesome Free class, hope all our friends and family enjoy crossfit as much as we do and join the fun. Good luck!! Everyone did great!!

    2. Love to hear about new people trying out Crossfit!! Great job to them and I look forward to seeing some new faces at the 908 :). I’m sure they will become addicted very soon…very soon ;).

  7. Tommy – I used to be a carbo loader at breakfast time…this morning I had a piece of steak after the 6am workout. My six year old was laughing at me for eating cows butt so early, but its what I am now used to. I also do a variation of a protein shake in the mornings….raw egg (yes you read that right), and almond milk with a touch of maple syrup and vanilla essence. Also, try salmon in the morning. I seriously dont need to eat until 2pm again (and I dont miss the bagels and muffins).

  8. Heather is right—the newbies in the Free Intro class did great!

The volume of water for the nutritional challenge is brutal! But I am not good about drinking water so this is great for me. Not so great for work productivity since I am always running to the bathroom!

This is my first experience with eating paleo and doing the challenge was kind of a last minute decision. So I wasn’t exactly prepared. I managed to eat fine yesterday and made it to grocery store late last night for a quick trip. So this morning at 6am while I was frantically getting ready for work I was boiling eggs and roasting brussel sprouts so that I would have something for lunch! At least tonight I can put some meat and veggies on the grill! I cooked sweet potatoes on the grill this weekend and they were awesome.

  9. BJs on 22 has one fridge case filled with applegate products – great for quick meals !

    Good luck guys!
