Emmy S

I have battled with my weight and eating habits ever since I was a little (big) girl. I had difficulty with sticking to a workout plan that tendered to my needs. I play D-1 soccer, so I needed something that was going to help me become lighter, more explosive, mentally tough, and confident.  In my 4 seasons at Rutgers, I was never fit. I didn’t even know how to define “fit”. I struggled passing fitness tests, I was easily injured, and with all of that- I lost confidence in myself and my ability, which then affected my playing time.

In October of 2011, I found Tim and Crossfit 908, and EVERYTHING changed…

After the 2011 Fall season, my coaches at Rutgers sat me down and told me that they did not know where I would stand as a Captain of the program in the spring season. I was crushed. But if there is one thing that crossfit and Tim have taught me- it is to NEVER give up. That’s what crossfitters are good at- finishing the task at hand, as quickly as possible, no matter what. And that is what I became good at- not making excuses.

I trained at 908 all through the spring semester/season, going in about 4 times a week. I passed every single fitness test, surpassing some of my team mates (which I have never done before). Mid way through the semester, the coaches called me in for another meeting- but this time I left the meeting with a big smile on my face. I had gained my captain band back, my starting position, and was 25lbs lighter! What more could a girl ask for?!

But it doesn’t end there…

I am from North Carolina. My sister goes to school down there, my mom lives in Charlotte and my dad works overseas.

I never see my family.

Tim, Erin, and the rest of the 908 crew have been the most amazing, supportive, and fun people I have ever been around. I’m blessed to be a part of this family. And my mom can sleep at night knowing I’m surrounded by these people on a regular basis. I wouldn’t be who I’ve become if it weren’t for them.

I’ve finally found something that has stuck. It’s frustrating (especially for females) when you think “oh, I’ll never look how I want” or “I can’t stand my body naked”…I’ve been there, plenty of times.

Now, I love being naked.

No excuses.
Thank you Tim and 908.
