10/10/16: Congrats and Thank You!

On Saturday we held our 5th annual Garden State Open Competition.  It was a packed day with over 140 competitors, 50+ volunteers and judges, 100+ spectators, and several vendors.  The competition ran smooth thanks to the help of our awesome volunteers and judges.  There was a ton of work to be done, everyone chipped in, nobody complained, and the reputation of the GSO still stands!  Thank you to everyone who lent a helping hand in planning, setting up, and executing the competition.  The anxiety and stress leading up to the event sometimes makes me question why we do it, but once the day kicks off and I see the athletes pushing themselves, the crowd cheering on their friends and family, and the camaraderie of the competitors, I know that it is all worth it.  If there is one takeaway from hosting a competition, it is that it makes our community stronger.  We are not just a gym.  For Erin and me, it is our home away from home, and i know many of you feel the same way.  When our 908ers are out there competing we cheer for them like family.  We had such great support of all of our athletes.  A big congratulations to Nicole T. on placing first in the Women’s Sx division and Joe Sacks on taking 2nd in the Men’s Sx division.   All of our athletes did great, and i could not be more proud of how you all pushed yourselves and kept up such high quality movement standards.  We hope many more of you will do it next year.  Thank you again to everyone who made Saturday such an overwhelming success.
